Patricia Parks Obituary

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but
unto all them also that love his appearing.
- 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Patricia Ann Leggett Parks was born to the late Wilbert and Beatrice McKoy Leggett on March 30, 1956. She was the eldest of seven children born to that union. In 1974, she graduated from Lumberton Senior High School and later attended Robeson Community College.
On Labor Day weekend of September 1981, Patricia met the love of her life, Mr. Harold Parks. Four months later, on January 16, 1982, they were married. After Harold retired from the U.S Army in March of 1995, they relocated to Raleigh, NC. Upon her arrival to Raleigh, Patricia was employed at Dorothea Dix Hospital as a clerical manger. After leaving the hospital, she served as a manager of Goodwill Industries (a non-profit organization), a customer service representative at Accu-print, Incorporated, and for the last 15 years, she served as a customer service representative for Correction Enterprises, a Division of North Carolina’s Department of Public Safety. Through her tenure at each job, her favorite part was her coworkers-- she truly loved them all!
Patricia, or Pat as most people knew her, was an over the top Diva! She never met a stranger anywhere she went. If she became your friend, you definitely had a friend indeed for life. Pat was a very strong-willed individual and this was proven more than twice in her life when she battled thyroid cancer; she continued to stand strong as a two-time cancer survivor! On days when she didn’t have energy or felt like staying in, she’d always push herself to go a little further.
Pat had many loves such as gardening, decorating, shopping, and entertaining. She would often invite friends and family
to her home to host dinner parties. She loved good food, but her all time favorite was seafood from Pier 41 Restaurant in Lumberton, NC. Her love for “capturing the moments” are evident from her snapping pictures and uploading them to her social media accounts. Although she loved her family and friends, her love for God triumphed it all. Pat was a Godly Woman who obeyed the gospel in her teens and remained a faithful Christian for the last 47 years. She loved church and her extended church family.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Beatrice Leggett, and two brothers, Michael Leggett and Marcus Walker.
Left to cherish her memories are: her husband, Harold Parks; two sons, Patrick Parks (April) of Durham, NC and Ian Parks of Raleigh, NC; one daughter, Shermayne Parks of New York, NY; three sisters: Linda Sandle of Raleigh, NC, Sharon Patterson of Fayetteville NC, and Peggy Leggett of Lumberton, NC; three brothers, Charles Leggett of Baltimore, MD, David (Anita) Leggett of Greensboro, NC, and Wilbert Leggett, Jr. of Rowland, NC; Four grandchildren: Jason Parks, Hunter Parks, and Imogen Park, all of Durham, NC, and Valencia Glaze of New York, NY; Four nieces: Karen Leggett of Greensboro, NC, Kierra Leggett of Atlanta, GA, Frankie Patterson of Fayetteville, NC, and Michaela Leggett of Greensboro, NC; two nephews, Charles Leggett II of Baltimore, Maryland and Marshall Baker of Philadelphia, PA; a special goddaughter, Loryn Smith (Tonisha); a host of cousins, special friends, and extended family members. Pat will be greatly missed by those who had the opportunity to encounter her!
