Jimmy Russell Dockery was born on November 2, 1950 to the late William Henry and Theola Dockery in Lumberton, NC. He departed this life early Saturday morning, November 7, 2020 at the Genesis Nursing Facility in Pembroke, NC.
Jimmy who was fondly known to his family and friends as “Head” attended public school in Robeson County, he left Lumberton in his young adult life and travel to various states doing what he liked best, working with different construction companies. As time progressed, he moved back to Lumberton, NC and landed a job with Cape Fear Construction Company as a Cement Finisher, many companies wanted his service because he was one of the best workersaround, he was very passionate and thorough about his work.
He acquired many friends along the way who knew him as a man who would give the shirt off his back if you needed it, he loved music, loved to dance, dressand “oh yes” he enjoyed eating, “pinto beans” was his favorite. Jimmy also loved sports, football was his game, the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers was his team. “Way To Go Steelers!”
Jimmy was introduced to Jesus Christ by many who would visit him at the nursing facility and he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Different groups would sing songs, pray and leave scriptures verses for him to ponder in his heart.
So as we come to the close of this chapter in Jimmy’s life, we will remember him as a brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend, not that he died, but he lived and one day he will live again.
