It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Lee Vander West, affectionately known as “Gabe,” who departed this life on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
Born on May 5, 1944, Gabe was a devoted father, loving grandfather, and cherished member of the community. He was known for his gentle spirit, his sense of humor, and the many lighthearted poems he wrote and shared with family and friends over the years. His words brought laughter, comfort, and connection to everyone who heard them.
A proud father of four, Gabe loved deeply and lived simply. He will be remembered for his kindness, creativity, and unwavering love for his family.
A memorial service honoring his life will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Lumberton, North Carolina.
