Mother Magdalene Graham, daughter of the late Willie and Macie Thompson (McMillan), was born on July 27, 1929, in Robeson County North Carolina.
Magdalene was educated in the Public Schools of Robeson County. At an early age, she met the love of her life John C. Graham, they married and moved to Highland Falls, NY. Magdalene retired from the Department of Defense, Department of the Army(DFAS), in the Food Service Department. After retirement, they moved back to Lumberton, NC. Magdalene was very active in the Church and Community of Red Springs, NC. She sang on the Gospel Choir. She also loved riding the road, visiting her friends. Riding in the Juneteenth and Christmas parades and talking on the telephone.
Magdalene was proceeded in death by her husband John C. Graham, daughter Betty Ann McMillan. Three Brothers: Willie Webster McMillan, Wilbert McMillan and Vander McMillan. Three Sisters: Lorraine Hardin, Claretha Reid and Annie Mae Dwight. Her favorite Brother-in-Law Samuel Clifton Reid, who died two weeks and two days prior to her death.
Magdalene leaves to cherish her memories: Two Sisters: Mary Lee and Carrie (William) Byrd of Baltimore, MD. One Brother: James Louis McMillan of Baltimore, MD. Two Sister in Laws: Annie Ruth Graham of Red Springs, NC, and Eola Mann of Detroit, Mi. Two Special Nieces: Wanda Liles and Rachel Ann (JD) Moore of Lumberton, NC. One Godchild: Taylor Moore of Lumberton, NC. Two Special Great Nieces: Tara Godfrey and LaToya Leach of Lumberton, NC. One Special Nephew: Brente’ (Ashley) Thompson, of Lumberton, NC.
Special Cousins/Nieces who took care of her as well, making sure she got to Church, picking up her medicine or items from the grocery store, and getting her mail out of the mailbox.
