It is with deep respect and tender hearts that Celebrations of Life by Leggett-Patterson Funeral Home announces the transition of Mrs. Thelma M. Thomas, who departed this life peacefully on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at her residence.

A devoted mother of five, including four sons and one cherished daughter, Mrs. Thomas was the proud matriarch of a beautiful and growing legacy that spans grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Known for her warm spirit, welcoming heart, and unforgettable charm, she was a true “Prez” type—a people’s person whose presence made everyone feel seen and celebrated.

Innovative, nurturing, and full of grace, Mrs. Thomas lived a life centered on family, faith, and fellowship. She had a special love for angels, often collecting them and sharing their meaning with those she loved. Just like the angels she admired, her life was a symbol of protection, peace, and quiet strength.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Celebrations of Life by Leggett-Patterson Funeral Home.

Please note: The family will not be present during the visitation.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Lumberton, North Carolina. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to the service for final viewing.

Please note: The family will receive visitors at the residence daily from 12:00 noon to 8:00 PM.
