Vinton McNeil Obituary

Honoring the Life of Mr. Vinton Issac McNeil

July 11, 1964 – February 16, 2025

Vinton Isaac McNeil Vinton Isaac McNeil, born in Baltimore, Maryland, was the beloved son of the late Rennette Lesane McNeil and Roscoe McNeil. He was a proud member of a military family, following in the footsteps of his father and siblings by serving in the United States Army. Rising to the rank of Sergeant, he dedicated himself to his country and traveled the world, including a station in Korea, before receiving an honorable discharge. After his military service, Vinton faced and ultimately overcame personal battles with addiction. His journey of recovery became his life’s mission, leading him to be an active member of Narcotics Anonymous for over 20 years. He not only earned the highest sobriety chip but also served as a mentor and sponsor to countless individuals struggling with addiction. His passion for helping others guided him into the field of substance abuse counseling, where he made a lasting impact by working with government-funded halfway houses in Robeson County. Vinton found love and companionship with Shelly, whom he met through the recovery community. They shared over 15 years together, blending their families and raising children with love and devotion. His family meant the world to him, and nothing brought him more joy than the birth of his son, Vinton Jr. An outdoorsman at heart, Vinton found peace in nature, especially while fishing. Whether at a lake or out in deep waters, he cherished every moment spent casting a line and bonding with his loved ones. He also had a passion for cooking, particularly grilling, and was known for his legendary barbecue skills. From family gatherings to casual Sunday dinners, he could always be found behind the grill, preparing meals with love and skill that brought people together. Vinton McNeil is survived by his children: Aria McNeil, Vinton Isaac McNeil Jr., Viviana McNeil, Asia Stephens, and Sharonda Floyd, along with his siblings and a host of family and friends who will forever cherish his memory. His legacy of resilience, service, and compassion will live on in the lives he touched
